We ventured down to the waterfront tonight to see the Holiday Lights that stretch from 2nd Street to 33rd Street along the Virginia Beach boardwalk.
We all enjoyed it and defiantly plan on coming back next year if we're still stationed here.
First, we got there at 5:27, they don't "open" until 5:30. We waited in a line that stretched down Atlantic Ave for about 20 minutes. Not bad at all really, I expected to wait much longer. While waiting in line, vendors walk up and down the street selling hot chocolate, cookies, soda, and glow in the dark toys.
The have two pay booths to speed up the process, $10 per car, $15 for "Combo Tickets" that get you into the Norfolk Botanical Garden of Lights also. We got the "Combo Tickets". Anyways, they give you a Christmas CD to listin to as you drive through, and you get the keep it in the end, you also get a little coupon book for the local resturants and shops. I highly recommend this event to anyone in the area who's looking for cheap thrills. Especially anyone with small children, my 2-1/2 year old LOVED it.
The Holiday Lights at the Beach are running from now till January 01, 2009 from 5:30-10pm, 11pm on the weekends.
